Traveling alone with my DD next month and need a suggestions for toys to carry in my backpack for a long flight with layover. She will be 18 months and we don't do coloring yet as everything ends up in her mouth as she likes tearing pages into tiny pieces. Anything to entertain her? Its day time flight so she will only take a one nap probably. Thanks.

Magnetic drawing board?

Take her to Poundland / tiger and let her pick a few toys that you put away until the flight. The novelty will work best.

That and a tablet pre loaded with her favourite shows

Sticker books are fun. Even just a pack of star stickers to decorate the sick bag Smile

The Galt water colouring books (pen is filled with water) are really good for that age.

Yes to tablet, buy kids headphones and try to get her used to them before the flight.

A bag she can rummage in and find things

Books you can read to her

Hand puppet maybe?

Be prepared to walk her up and down the aisle a lot and take any chance you can to do this (ie when they’re not bringing round drinks/meals/duty free)

Oh yes those peel off jelly type stickers - can go on the table, window etc and will peel off

Buy lots of cheap little things and wrap them up together to go in her bag (we use old magazines) do enough for one present every thirty mins and get an egg timer🤣

We used to remove a few of my little ones toys for a few weeks before the flight and then they were thrilled to have them back on the plane! Also, as above, a few little new things wrapped. Snacks, snacks… all the snacks! Things like Cheerios or raisins that take ages to eat.
water colouring is great for her age. We’ve also loved a little tool kit, some dolls house sized characters, books, stickers, walking round and round the plane. Mostly I think it’s about being prepared that the flight will be continuous work for you entertaining little one. We’ve had the odd bad flight but mostly it’s been totally fine if I’m prepared mentally for being fully engaged all the time!
