I’m currently helping a therapist friend (who isn’t a parent) with a parenting course for struggling parents. And can’t think of anything else that needs to be included

so far we have put in things like
caring for children
emotional health of parent and child
a lot of group discussions
not about being perfect and fracture and repair of relationships with child

is there anything that really helped you when you were struggling or you are struggling now what sort of things you are struggling would like to know more about/what would help?!

any help greatly appreciated.

Depends on what they are struggling with!

They don’t need to be a parent but surely somebody offering a therapeutic parenting course needs to have had specific training in e.g. effective parenting, supporting parent and child relationships, child psychology etc? They can’t just ask around for opinions on what parents might like to hear and regurgitate that.

That's very vague.

What age of children?

What types of referral reasons?

I'd want practical advice, but as pp said that needs to come from someone qualified to give it e.g. a childcare specialist/HV/child psychologist.

The role is volunteering for a charity. He does now work with adults but had many years working with children earlier in his career.
parents referred for it have children all ages from newborn up to mid teens. English not first language.
parents have struggled with mental health in the past and are now struggling with parenting, for various reasons.
have done the general outline but was just wondering if there is anything someone thought that really helped me get through things that is obvious and we haven’t overlooked it.
