Full Fat cows milk and baby's!

Hi all!

My little girl is 2 weeks off 1 years old.. How much full fat cows milk can she have each day?

She now refuses to have more than 6oz of formula a day. So she’ll have a morning feed, night feed with her vitamins and cows milk throughout the day but not sure how much she’s allowed! (She has meals throughout the day)

Thanks in advance!

I thought it was no cows milk until over 1?

OliviaL9530 · 26/10/2022 23:55

@AmIThatMam

My HV said that it's better than her not having anything. She also said she's 1 in 2 weeks so didn't see it making too much of a difference.
If she was 6 months old then obviously I wouldn't give her any but.. 2 weeks lol

I don't think there's any need to be pedantic, pp. She's almost a year old so a couple of weeks will make no difference.

@OliviaL9530 she's having formula plus three meals a day, so I can't see any problems with giving her as much as she wants. It probably won't be a lot as it sounds like she's eating well.

Around 17oz of milk under 1 and 12oz over 1.

JunoPicanto · 26/10/2022 23:57

It will make no difference at all, don't worry!

OliviaL9530 · 26/10/2022 23:59

@DramaAlpaca

Thank you! She eats well and has water with meals but she's just cutting teeth 5&6 so meals haven't been as successful as I'd like but what can you do x

Don't worry about it. We started introducing some cows milk at 11 months so it wasn't a sudden swap over. By 12 months they should have around 500ml of cows milk per day.

She needs 350 mg of calcium. This can be from milk, bread, yoghurts and forfeited bread.

For crying out loud

I gave my DS cows milk about two weeks before. I ran out of formula and no way was I buying a tub for the two weeks off his first birthday.

I don't think there is a limit as such? Just be sure to brush their teeth well. You'll probably find she won't want it as much!

AmIThatMam · 28/10/2022 23:29

Jesus sorry! It sounded like she had already switched to cows milk and I haven’t had a one year old for 7 years so didn’t know if the advice had changed. I thought it was literally no cows milk before 1 and then gradually introduce. Clearly not! Glad you got your answer.
