Potty training - night time

Embraced potty training yesterday it's going well, zero accidents zero reminders toddler is putting himself on potty at will and announcing he's been, all good BUT......

He got out of bed 9:30pm did wee on potty, called and told me I was very happy! He then proceeded to get in and out of bed 'till just after 11pm saying he needs a poo

At 11pm I put a pull up on him he slept 'till 8am when he got himself up and did a wee by himself

So what do I do tonight? I think he was using the potty as an excuse to get out of bed and while I want to encourage free potty time his sleep is going to get seriously messed up if this goes on??

How old is he?

Put him in night-time pull ups.

And don't worry if he gets up in the night to wee/poo.

Lots of children aren't dry at night until they are well in infant school. So the fact he wakes himself up so he doesn't soil himself is a good thing.

He will eventually stop doing it as he won't want to get up at night.

(Also don't be surprised if he soils himself if he is ill.)

I’d consistently stick with pull ups overnight until it’s dry every day for a week. Unlike the daytime not something you can really train since it’s hormonal.

I'm lazy and didn't want to be woken up in the night to change wet sheets. We used pull ups until they'd gone a whole month being dry I think they were about both about 4.5 it was the first term that they started school. I know of a few boys who were still in pull ups at 6.
