How do I give 6 week old lactulose

6 week old hasn't done a poo in over 3 days and is very uncomfortable with it.
Pharmacy has given us lactulose and said to read the instructions but there is not much info on how to give the required dose to baby.

Has anyone given their newborn this and how??

You should have a syringe?

Just gently squirt the required dose into the mouth just before a feed.

Bottle or breast fed?

Please speak to your GP or health visitor. It's important to check your baby thoroughly before giving a 6 week old medicines.

I’d talk to your health visitor. Constipation is really rare in a newborn, something else may be going on.

I think you need to see the GP first.

She is bottle fed and is drinking as normal and plenty of wet nappies. She is also passing wind which I've noticed is smeller than normal.
I will hold off and give the health visitor a call

Thanks everyone!

don’t give it! Baby needs to be seen by a doctor or at least health visitor. So many things that can cause this in a new baby. Hope all is well

Sorry posted before I saw your update :)

My 9 week old has been prescribed gaviscon and while it is helping the reflux it is making her very constipated. She has been prescribed lactulose 2.5ml x2 a day but her poos are still solid and she appears uncomfortable all day. Does anyone have any advice ? Would it be safe to give more lactukose than recommended until I can get an appointment at the dr tomorrow. Does anyone have anything else that worked for them?
Thanks
