Issues with nappies

DD is 17 months. She’s slim but quite tall (I’m 5”9 and her dad is 6”4). She was wearing size 5 Aldi nappies during the day and size 5 Pampers during the night as the Aldi ones would leak.

I started to realise that sometimes she’d have a wet patch on her trousers in the crotch area so I started buying size 6. The same thing would happen so I bought 6+. I’ve finally realised that because she’s so active and constantly climbing up and down things, it’s as if she gets a nappy wedgie and the nappy is no longer covering her bum. I’ve just bought a pack of nappy pants but I can already see that this won’t cover her bum either.

Has anyone gone through similar? Do I need to try another brand and just use Pampers during the day? Should nappy pants do the trick? Helpppp

The plus is about absorbancy not size. Nappy pants are not as absorbant. Different brands fit differently. Sounds like your going too big how big is the gap on the tapes?

Have you tried going down a size? As they get active and slim down sometimes they need to go back to a smaller size.

I would have thought you'd need a smaller size too. My 3+ year old wears a size 6 at night and it's comfortably big on him.

Have you used all in one vests that popper between the legs, they can hold a nappy in a bit snugger.

I would try a smaller size, I have found with my little ones that if the nappy is too big it gives them a wedgie.

Every child's different by my 4yo wears a size 6 nappy at night for context.

Oh wow I’ve just looked at the pack and can see it says extra absorbent for the plus sizes, I had no clue😂

Majority of comments are saying to go down a size and I guess that does make sense. If it’s the right size then it wouldn’t have room to wiggle about and end up as a wedgie. I’ll definitely give that a try thank you

Yeah sorry she wears a vest like that during the day

Most 17 months are in 4+ to 5 if heavier. They leak all sorts if too big....tapes should be an inch to 4.inches gap with no problems..
Check the frill is laying flat and out when you put them on

I'd go smaller. DS was slim and very active and wore a size until he hit the upper weight limit, they were hipster but worked.

DoubleBuggyDriver · 23/10/2022 11:53

Thank you all, I’ll try going down a size
