Thrush or UTI in past pregnancy

Hello. I would really love to hear from mums who had thrush or UTI in their pregnancy and went on to have NT kids? I read somewhere that infections in pg can disrupt brain development? Hoping it’s a load of bull.

Where did you read it? Was it a credible source? You can read most things somewhere on the internet that are often not true.

I have no idea if DS is NT. he's not quite 3. I'm not NT and I had thrush for my entire pregnancy. I highly doubt a yeast infection would have caused neurodiversity.

@Mylittlesandwich hello! I can’t remember but I suppose it didn’t say thrush, it said infections so I wondered if thrush would be included

This is the only thing I can find online, it sites a medical journal however it also says that infections in pregnancy do not appear to be causal in increasing the likelihood of autism or intellectual disabilities so unless new research is done there is no current link to infections in or before pregnancy

No worries, there's enough to worry about these days without adding on more things. Another thing to think about is that we're getting better at spotting things like autism so while numbers affected seem to be on the increase it's actually more likely that people went undiagnosed before. I've not long been diagnosed with ADHD at 30.

@Mylittlesandwich youre right! I suppose they literally link everything to autism/brain damage etc

I had many UTIs in pregnancy OP and even one 5 day hospital stay. My daughter is thriving. She is an active little girl, with no development issues. She was born on the small side though 5 lbs 4oz and is still diddy but slowly getting there.
