Smoking problems

Hi everyone,

My friend and I were having a discussion about the damage smoking causes when pregnant and we came across a study that was interesting.

it found a link between smoking grandmothers and damage it can cause to grandchildren such as autism or asthma because it can damage the developing eggs

i wonder how true this is. So I’d like to ask, did anyones mother smoke during pregnancy with u and did it have any of those affects on ur kids/siblings kids? (If your siblings are girls)

My grandmother and mother were both smokers. I didnt have asthma or autism, neither did my two brothers or sister (im pretty sure my mother smoked while pregnant with all of us...)

None of us children/grandchildren smoke ourselves

That's an interesting study though. It doesn't surprise me they have found some link

Oh and none of my sisters kids or my son have shown any symptoms (although mine is only 5 months)

@Nat888 very interesting. Thanks for your response :)

My mother smoked with me and my 3 siblings. I had childhood asthma, my sister still suffers from asthma and my brother autism. Interesting!

@Yahyahs22 i think the link is where the grandmother smokes, not so much the mother. But if your mother smoked, do any of yours or your sisters children have autism or asthma?

My DM smoked. Both my DS and my nephew have had childhood asthma and been in hospital numerous times with it. But

@PutYourShoesOnWereLate wow, that’s interesting! So was true in ur case. If u don’t mind me asking, were either of them affected by autism as well?
