At my wits end

2 weeks this has been going on for. I was told a viral rash even though my baby hasn’t been sick or any signs of any sickness! No temp, no nothing. Just this awful rash! I’m taking her back to her gp this afternoon for the third time but really want opinions because me and my partner are going down and demanding them to try some other plan to clear her skin.

she’s currently on piriton and e45 cream! It’s only got worse and worse and I’m so upset because it can’t be pleasant for her at all!

Whereabouts is the rash and how old is your baby? My daughter (3) had an awful (and growing) rash on her back last year which didn't cause her any problems. We tried antifungal cream (from the pharmacist) and then a couple of different creams from the GP, which finally cleared it up. At the second appointment we were also prescribed a soap replacement cream. We used this for some months and the rash has stayed away thank goodness.

I’ve put some photos up, it started on her neck and has now spread to her neck, face, front torso, back & behind her ears! She is 8 months old x

If she's recently started on foods, could be an allergy to something.

Latenightreader · 19/10/2022 10:48

Crosspost! Poor scrap, that's not nice. If the piritin and E45 aren't making any difference it is definitely time to go back.

It looks more like an allergy. Stop the E45. Try Child's Farm products instead. Use SURCARE laundry liquid or powder.

My daughter had eczema at that age which looked like this. It used to get worse if she got a bit warm. Zero cream helped. They said she would likely grow out of it as it was classed as ‘baby eczema’, which she did, but it took about 6 months. Her rash didn’t flake or anything like you would usually expect with eczema, it looked just like your baby’s.

Thanks so much everyone. Everything that’s all been said I’ve said to my partner that it could be. I’m going to go down today and say all this too because I am absolutely positive it’s not a viral rash and I’m so annoyed she has been suffering this long. She has seen 2 different out of hour doctors. So I’m hoping her actual gp today helps us with moving forward. She’s in a right little mess! I can’t even imagine how it must feel for her! I’m stopping the e45 cream. I haven’t applied any this morning because it’s just went worse since using it.

thank you so much for taking time to message me. I really appreciate it!xx

That looks exactly like the rash my son developed as I weaned him. Turned out he was allergic to eggs and dairy.

God really! I wouldn’t say I have changed anything she is having? Can allergies develop even after having food products for a while?

Yes they can unfortunately

update!

took her to gp, I was right from the start that it was not a viral rash. She said it’s dermatitis and possible allergy has caused it. We are meeting again next week once she has started her steroid creams and antihistamines to see improvement hopefully and will then visit possible reasons.

thanks to you all for reaching out! I appreciate it so much. I hope if someone comes along with similar to my daughter that this helps too 🤍🤍
