Calpol for teething

Baby 6.5 months, teething at the minute, no teeth yet, been using bonjela and anbesol, and teething toys etc.

My question is when do you use calpol for teething, she never full on crys but at times she fussy and chewing on things, can see teeth must be bothering her.

Do you wait until she full on annoyed or what is best x

I used to give at first signs of discomfort tbh as didn't want him getting to the point he was hysterical with it

Ibuprofen works better for teething in my experience. Just don't give on an empty stomach.

I would try a dose of calpol if other methods aren't easing it. It doesn't always work well for teething, with some kids it works a charm but others it doesn't really help and they respond better to topical pain relief. But worth a try to see. It's horrible seeing little ones in pain.

What if they needed pain relief everyday, surely can't give calpol each day?

The rule is no more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor as there may be something underlying if theyve needed it for that long.

When DD was badly teething I switched between calpol and ibuprofren as needed on a judgement call whether she was just aggy or if she was in pain.

you have my sympathies, its something that always stops me in my tracks thinking about having a second child and going through it all over again!
