Close age gap?

So we have a 3 month old baby and me and my husband have always said we want to have another baby close in age. I’m getting really broody and want to give our child a sibling sooner and want to start trying now, which means an 11 month age gap roughly! What are your age gaps? Would you change it to a larger or smaller age gap if you could? I want to know everything! I just love the thought of them growing up together and having a close bond like 2 of my siblings have (18 months between them)

I have a 19 month age gap with my sister and chose the same for my two oldest kids. We were very close and so are they (now 6 and8) but it was hard going as a parent for the first year. Really relentless and lots of guilt.

I definitely wouldn’t recommend a shorter gap than that. It was hard enough having to shift focus to DC2 when DC1 was so small. I’d have felt horrendous guilt If she’d been an actual baby.

My advice would be to really focus on enjoying this baby (1 was very easy by comparison) and start tax in 9 months if you’re still keen on a small gap.

I think it’s a good idea to let your body heal a bit more before trying - a friend who had 2 in 12 months had extreme ab separation as a result and it has affected her back. It has also meant she has a permanent belly even when fit (so do I to be fair ;)) You might not feel it but all through your body things are still knitting back into place. Allowing even 3-6 more months will help.
