My son is being bullied

Ds 11 is being bullied. We found out this weekend, he was outside our house playing with his friends a group of 6 of them in total (we have a park just outside our house, and we regularly check on him from the window) one of the boys had began slapping another child, and strangling one, and then started on my son, this boy is a lot bigger than the other boys. My son stuck up for himself and fought back and the bully went away, as we went over to get him and check on them all. I called the school this morning so they could keep an eye on the situation but at school my son said this boy was following him around and tried to push him down some stairs, luckily one of his friends was there and stopped it from happening. Where do I go from here?? He is my eldest child and I haven't had to deal with bulling before. I have emailed school to make them aware..

I think you have done what you can.

I'd read the school behaviour policy and make sure they implement it if any incidents happen at school.

I would, if possible, start your child in some sort of martial arts.

Actually, it's not a bad idea, but it's best to do JiJitsu, Ninjutsu (I'm biased, lol), or boxing rather than karate or something else because, ultimately, you'd want a martial art he might actually use.

Just keep an eye on the situation for now, if the older boy does push your son down the stairs you can politely wait by your car for his parents to pick him up after school and have a ....word. Hopefully that's the end of it. But how terrible; I hope your son is okay.

Massive kudos to your son for standing up to the bully. Make sure he knows that you're supportive of him standing up for himself. It was a bold thing that he did, good on him.

"Stick your chest out and shoulders back, - think like a lobster 😅" as Jordan Peterson would say! 😃. Hopefully it has ended now that the school looked into it, but make sure to do follow ups with your son too.
