Toddler refuses to drink water - Help!

My toddler just turned 2 and he has been very reluctant to drink water recently. He doesn’t like drinking milk either so we don’t give him milk anymore. It’s water that I’m really worried about, especially he’s been having colds for a couple of weeks and needs to be hydrated. We tried to give him squash even and he didn’t want it either. Tried different bottles/cups or doing cheers and no success. Help me please 🙏

Ice lollies?

missmamiecuddleduck · 16/10/2022 14:44

What is he drinking?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 16/10/2022 14:44

Drinks with a straw and a slice of orange in
Makes it look fun. Or even some ice cubes bobbing around in it.
A jug they can use to pour into small cups. My son liked doing that and sipping the juice he had poured.

We had a toy tea set. Water went in the teapot, and on the plates - finely sliced apple, plumped up sultanas (soaked in boiled water for five mins and patted dry) and puffed wheat. Our kids loved pouring from the teapot so drank loads of water. Waterproof tablecloth spread on the floor or on the table - essential - plus a towel at the ready.

Oops, that read like water also went on the plates. No, the food went on the plates.

Try a cold tea - caffeine free. Rooibos, chamomile, fennel, barley.

Thanks all. Today he didn’t even drink one sip since he was up in the morning (nearly 9 hours now) and I get very frustrated. All he had was a few small slices of watermelon for “liquid” intake. He even had a whole pack of mini cheddars and still didn’t want to drink anything.

I’m convinced my DS was a camel in another life.

What are his nappies like? This is how I know DS must be drinking more than I think. Yesterday he didn’t drink between 12-5. I don’t know how!

Oh another thing we do is buy watermelon!
Kids love watermelon and it's full of, well, water!

Sparkling water with a straw
Cartons of orange or apple juice
Milkshake made with ice cream
Ice poles/ home made ice lollies
Get a "fun" cup with flip up straw/special drinking lid
