Baby wakes all night and only sleeps if feeding

My 7 month old will only fall asleep at night by being fed. Wakes every 1-2 hours and won’t settle unless latched! Help!! Don’t want baby crying out but would love to help him sleep better.

He also only naps in sling or buggy or latched!!

Have you tried a dummy?

chocsaucestrawb · 15/10/2022 19:32

Has he always done this ?

LDriver1 · 15/10/2022 21:31

He has never accepted a bottle or a dummy. He shoves the teat to the side of his mouth and won’t suck.

he has always been a bad sleeper and needed to feed to sleep but then once asleep would sleepy for a bit but now he needs to be constantly latched.

What's his food/milk intake in the day time?

LDriver1 · 16/10/2022 06:56

He has two purée meals a day and is exclusively breastfed.

Sounds developmental and like alltricky phases will pass. I would try to focus on things like naps first and using white noise etc to create relaxing conditions. My ebf baby went through it at 4m then again at 13m. It had nothing to do with hunger just comfort of mumma during leaps.

IME when they want to be latched on for extended periods it's usually discomfort. Check for a nappy leak/overfull nappy, and new teeth coming through.

He sounds hungry? Could you try some different bottles? Teats and see if he would accept one bottle at bedtime, just to see if the waking is food related?

Either formula or expressed milk? So you can see how much he is taking?
