Does your young child have an obsession?

Does your child have or did they have an obsession with something?

My DS is 5 and at the moment is absolutely obsessed with pacman! It started when on holiday in the summer at butlins and we played it on the arcade machines. We then started drawing our own pacman 'mazes' at home and made a pacman out of a tennis ball to move around the mazes.
Now everywhere he goes he uses his hand as a 'pacman' or takes the tennis ball pacman out and he talks about it all day long!

For something so basic (and old!) I can't understand why he is so obsessed about it?!
Is this normal for 5 year olds to get an obsession about something?

His teacher at school says he bores everyone talking about it. Teacher says reception kids often have an obsession about something and then get over it but I've not heard this before.
All other aspects of his behaviour and school work are good - it's just the weird obsession I'm a bit worried about!

Any stories about your kids having a strange obsession but getting over it?

My 4 year old adores ghost busters!

When ds was 4 he was obsessed with ditches!

Not sure I can help much OP, my DS is only 2 but has been obsessed with Postman Pat (I mean the old school 1981/1990s version), and has been for at least a year! Refuses to watch CBeebies, just Postman Pat. Recently he's moved onto Tractor Ted and Peppa Pig too which is a bit (but not much) of respite!

Btw He’s 16 now and totally indifferent about ditches

My little one (4) loves marble run. And he likes watching videos of marble runs, water slides and hamster mazes on YouTube- we have to limit these!

Paw patrol is another current hit.

The 7 yo is obsessed with Sonic. Before that it was PJ Masks for YEARS.
