5 months - WTF?!

Does something big happen for babies at 5 months? I knew about the 4 month sleep regression, so was prepared! We got maybe 2 happy weeks after that ended and bam…I genuinely have no idea what my DD’s deal is!!!

She’s unusually fussy. Her wake windows have gone right back down (1.5 hours max, where she was happily awake for 2 last web). NOTHING interests her. She’s squirming in the pram like she’s uncomfortable (it’s the most bloody comfy pram I can think of). Still sleeps well at night and most naps. It’s like she’s sick of me/everything and would rather sleep than engage!

I can’t see teeth but she’s been chewy and dribbly for weeks. Don’t think she’s poorly…

Is this a thing they go through?!

I found 4-7 months really hard with both of my two. They were just pissed off all day long. Once they could sit up and were a bit more active (so could shimmy along the floor at least) they were happier.

Yeha as the PP says soo many people tell me 4-7 is tough. They waken more tot he world around them and get frustrated they can't do things - like move around etc.

I'm in it with my 4.5 month old.. the sleep is shit but just generally he seems a bit grumpy/frustrated most days ...quite a shock! I'm sure he is teething too - dribble everywhere and constant chewing/ red cheek

Hi OP @eastofeden86 I’ve just come across your thread while dealing with a very similar situation with my 5 month old! Did things get better for you?

Hi @firsttimemum0423 - it did 😊DD is now 16 months and if I’ve learnt nothing else it’s that everything with babies - bad, good, whatever - is a phase. Mine cheered up by 6-7 months once she could sit. Dig deep!

My 7-month-old still hasn't slept through the night, you know. He takes a one-hour nap in the day and another in the afternoon. Then it's bath, bottle, and bed. The best we've got is him sleeping from 7pm to 4am, waking up again around 5 or 6am.
I could really use some extra sleep, couldn't I? Haha!

Who knows 😅
To me it felt like the majority of my babys first year was peppered with these sorts of phases. Trudged the internet looking for answers but never found any real solutions. All I can say is so long as she is not unwell its probably just another phase to ride out. Sorry OP that's not very helpful but just know your not alone 💪

Thank you for replying, I’m glad things got better for you! I’m realising things happen in phases 😅
