Back to work guilt

Tomorrow I start back at work 3 days a week after 6 months of maternity leave. Dh will be watching ds when I work.

My main worry is that ds is exclusively breastfed. I have tried introducing bottles in anticipation of going back to work but he refuses to drink from them so I’m feeling really worried about how he will get enough milk when I’m at work.

He is 6 months old in a couple of days and isn’t very interested in solids either…

Luckily I only work 10 minutes from home so dh can bring ds for a feed during my breaks if necessary but I don’t know how feasible this is long term.

I’m feeing like a terrible mother for going back to work while my baby is still so reliant on me.

Ah OP l remember feeling like this too - at the time we didn't even need the money for my part time job but l had to look at the bigger picture.

Just take one day at a time, you will soon get into a routine and it will be lovely for your DH to spend time with the baby xx

Awww it will be hard at first but you'll find your groove. Stock up on syringes and get a baby cup so worst case scenario your partner can feed him with those. Once he figures out there are no boobs in the house after a few days, hopefully he'll start taking the bottle!

It's ok. It will all work out. It's so great that DH can bring baby for feeds. It won't have to be long term because he'll progress to food more and more, and he'll grow and maybe take expressed milk in a cup if not a bottle eventually? With babies nothing is long term. It's wonderful he will be with his dad as it will give them a strong relationship. Try to focus on the positives, I know how hard it is having recently gone back, but you are doing great. Give yourself kindness and grace.

Just sending a handhold as I also go back to work tomorrow from mat leave, breastfeeding and hating the fact I'm leaving my 7 month old DD ...I don't want to 😭 but on the other hand I need to be me again as well as mum and wife so I can provide more and be a better mum because Im taking time to invest in myself as well as the children. We can get through it together 💜
