Anyone living with genital herpes ever passed it to your kids via everyday living inanimate objects? I have read the virus can survive on surfaces and towels etc.. its scaring me because I'm having a baby and it's gonna drive me crazy if I have an ob . If i dry myself with a towel with an ob then surely I'm smearing the virus all over my other body parts like arms which may then touch my baby?

If you had the virus before you got pregnant then you pass immunity to your baby which lasts about 18 months. It's well documented. I had a herpes outbreak when baby was 2 weeks old (on face) so I did a lot of reading around it as I was freaking out too.

Helpful to know, thank you. But even when that immunity wanes, say he was 2 or 3 yrs and I had an ob could I pass it to my toddler through everyday living. So worried now I know it can live on towels.

Also what sort of precautions did you take? Did you just not kiss him for a while

I covered the area with a plaster and washed my hands a billion times a day.
What you could do is dry your intimate area with a towel, then dry the rest of your body with a new clean towel? Washing hands in between?

Use paper towels to dry the affected area
