I’m a single parent. My car was in for a service today after I dropped my children off for school (primary and middle) I was then informed by the garage that my car was dangerous to drive until 2 parts had been replaced and I can’t get it till tommrow. Therefore I have no way of getting one of my children to school tommroe (school is in the middle of nowhere) and taxis are already booked up for school run. I have emailed the school to suggest that in these circumstances can I apply for one day for my child to be off and it not classed as an unauthorised absence. They have not stated this will be ok or not and were a bit sketchy about it. What are your thoughts?

If you can’t get the child to school they can’t go, you’ve given them notice but email again in the morning confirming as discussed, your child won’t be in for x reason.

You have no way of getting your children to school. Nothing else you can do.

The school rang and said they expect her to be in school I said I had no options and that was pretty much the conversation 🫣, I’m worried I might get a fine
