Soaking baby every morning!

Any suggestions???
I have tried cloth and disposables of all descriptions but he's still sodden by the morning and the laundry costs are astronomical! You can get a Huggies product in the states called Overnites, but they won't stock them here, for reasons best known to themselves. Anyone know a good website where I can purchase them, or have any solutions? I'll be ever so grateful!

When my DS started to be soaking every morning I switched to the next size up of nappy and that solved the problem.

hifi · 25/01/2008 17:12

sorry to state the obvious but are you pointing his penis down?

my dd is drenched some mornings and i have figured out if she sleeps on her stomach it just rolls down.

nickytwotimes · 25/01/2008 17:13

Thanks Low.
Tried the bigger ones, but they are a little too big and leaked down the legs. He's an awkward little bugger!

nickytwotimes · 25/01/2008 17:52

Didn't think you were condescending at all, hifi! It was dh who told me about the willie thing. Would not have occured to me!

Have you tried Nature Babycare? I found these were the only ones that could deal with ds capacious bladder.

ivykaty44 · 25/01/2008 17:54

I used to get these things to put in the nappy at night - bit like a big st and it soaked up the extra wettness during the night. I am sure I got them from boots.

discoverlife · 25/01/2008 17:57

I used to put two nappies on both DS's. The normal fit one next to the skin with cuts in the waterproof outer to allow the wee through, and a next size up over the top. It made for a big but dry bottom.

Also putting a disposable nappy pad (do they still do them?) as a liner to an ordinary nappy. Maybe cut a normal nappy down to a rectangular shape and use it as an insert?

nickytwotimes · 25/01/2008 19:39

I will try your suggestions, thanks folks.
The big nappy liners no longer seem to be available, but I could try to fashion one from a regular nappy - worth a try!
Cheers!

I had similar problems, tried various things and now use 2 boosters in my ds' cloth nappy overnight (we use One Life which are like the Motherease one size), one snapped on the inside of the nappy itself, one on the outside (between nappy and wrap). This gets him through without leaks, though it's sodden the next day! Might be worth trying boosters of different materials too, I think (?) hemp boosters are very absorbent? You can get all these online from various nappy sites. Also I found he leaked overnight as soon as he started growing out of the wrap and needed the next size up, far before the wraps leaked in the day.

hifi · 25/01/2008 20:26

i think its a bigger problem than the nappy producers can address, ok maybe not that big but our babies ARE FILLING THEIR NAPPIES BEFORE THEY CAN REALISE THEY HAVE TO GO TO THE LOO IN THE NIGHt. soz went into capitals.
the amount of time i am kicked out of my bed so dd can escape her pee sodden one is now a joke.

hawesmead5 · 26/01/2008 10:22

My lo used to always wee through his night time disposable nappy. So we have swapped to cloth, since then we are having less accidents. I use a minki huggle stuffed with a bamboo liner and covered with a waterproof fleece wrap also by minki. I must admit the smell in the morning is enough to knock you out cold, but I've not had any leaks yet touch wood!!

NineUnlikelyTales · 26/01/2008 10:24

My DS is the same. He now wears to bed a onelife nappy with two onelife boosters and two prefolds with a motherease airflow wrap. He now goes to bed looking seriously deformed but he doesn't leak a drop!

hawesmead5 · 26/01/2008 10:30

I know my lo looks like a weeble. I've even had to prop my lo's bed up at one end his bum is that big LOL!

discoverlife · 26/01/2008 12:06

I used to worry about the chance of deforming their spines when their bums are a good 5 inches above the bed and their heads are lower. I wonder if that helps with brain growth though?

NineUnlikelyTales · 26/01/2008 13:05

It doesn't seem to do me any harm discoverlife (except it's more than 5 inches I expect...)

ivykaty44 · 26/01/2008 13:22

nicky - if the pads to go in nappies are no longer available you might try and look in the incontenent section at boots, as they will have long pads to go into knickers/pants for otherpeople and there may be something there that will fit into a nappy.

As long as the product is to deal with urine (not st's as they will not absorb urine )

dosydot · 26/01/2008 13:25

Hope this is not tmi but not knowing how old your DS is thought I would make a suggestion.
The only reason my DS is wet in the morning despite having large bladder capacity and wearing nappy one size up, is that he tends to explore his nether regions in the night and therefore messes the nappy up and wees right out of it. Typical bloke in the making I think

nickytwotimes · 26/01/2008 19:47

Many thanks for all your suggestions. I have plenty to go on and will be taking a trip to Boots this week, I think! The sooner he's potty trained the better.

when you used cloth nappies did you use a booster?
