Hi all.
My 4 week old was in hospital last week with bloody mucus stools.
It was believed to be part of an allergy issue so given hypoallergenic formula, however received a call from environmental health today to state in his stool sample there was salmonella present.
I genuinely have no idea how this happened. He was on aptamil when it all started, so not sure if a dodgy batch or an issue with the prep machine etc, bottles are sterilised following process for the MAM bottles. I feel like such a failure of a mother and feel awful my little boy had to suffer this.
Has anyone had any experience of salmonella with a newborn and/or any advice on the subject.
I am waiting on a callback from GP to discuss as I only knew due to call from environmental health lady.
