Self soothing

Hi 👋.
Just looking for a bit of advice.
My 12 week old little girl sleeps in a next 2 me crib in a sleep bag and has started self soothing during the night, a lot of wriggling but she settles back to sleep. The last couple of nights she has wriggled right over to the right side which is where my bed is. When she is self soothing she bangs her head on the side of her next 2 me, where she bangs it is slightly padded but still hard enough to wake me.

I didn’t know babies this young would bang their head to self sooth. I’ve tried moving her away when she bangs it as it’s awful to see, but she just goes right back and carries on.

I wouldn’t put anything into the next 2 me like bumpers or anything. She loves to stretch out in bed which probably doesn’t help as she’s not the smallest 12 week old 🤭.

Just wondering if it’s okay for her to just carry on doing it or if anyone has any suggestions, I’ve attached some pics.

Thank you 💖

My baby went through a phase of doing this, it didn't last too long, maybe 5 days at the most. It's hard to imagine how banging their heads soothes them but I figure they'd cry if it hurt?

Yeah that’s what I thought. It doesn’t seem to hurt her at all, must just sound a lot worse than it feels 😩😂.

Good to know other babies are doing it, thank you for replying
