Baby cold

Baby currently has her first cold at 4 months. I’m super stressed and trying to keep on top of it for her, it breaks my heart.

my question is, I know SIDS guidelines state that they should sleep flat but should I slightly incline the head of the cot so that she can sleep a bit better whilst congested? Obviously I won’t put anything in the cot with her to do this

Yes you can, but make sure she’s still sleeping on the mattress, so with raise the head of the cot (eg stand it on a book) or put a folded towel/blanket under the head of the mattress.

Oh no, my baby had his first cold at 4 months and it was just awful. I remember being up most of the night with the saline spray and snot sucker because he just couldn't get comfortable. He's had one or two colds since then that have barely bothered him at all but that first one was the worst! It's so tough when they're sick but it won't last long, at least the worst of it should be gone within a few days. You could try one of those calpol plug in vapour things too.

Calpol plug ins are an absolute must for us. They work brilliantly.

I hope you're baby is feeling better now. I think mine might have a cold at 13 weeks old. I'm really worried. Did you just know that it was a cold or did you get your baby checked out to have it confirmed? Sorry if that sounds like a daft question.

Thankyou! She actually had 2 consecutive colds bless her. I only took her to the gp when she had a rash on her belly which they said was viral. I just knew it was a cold other than that because she was congested and a bit grumpy! The calpol plug in was amazing and we slightly tilted her cot as advised by the gp to help her sleep. Hope you’re LO is ok x

Thank you for your reply.
Oh bless her! That must have been tough!
Yes we have tilted her next to me cot. And we have bought the calpol plug in which has been amazing!
It's hard seeing her so poorly. Hope it doesn't last too long.
