I have an 8 month old and not sure if it's cold enough now to wear a vest under her leggings and long sleeved top? What are you dressing yours in. 13/14 degrees here

My 3 year old still has a vest under clothes, I still go by the one more layer than us rule.

When it was in between weather like this we quite often did a long sleeved coloured vest with a t shirt then a cardigan so could layer up/down as the day changed. Or maybe vest and long sleeved T-shirt, bit warm still fit vest and jumper.

Was just digging out clothes for my 6m old…. I don’t have a lot of “tops”, just long sleeved vests. I’m going for one of those plus leggings for the house and will chuck a cardigan or jumper over the top if we go out).

So many people I know have been dressing their babies in a vest under clothes all throughout summer so I’m glad it’s not just me that hasn’t been! I’ve started with vests again on the slightly chillier days unless she’s wearing a jumper type top. But I will probably start putting them on everyday soon

Thank you! Seems that everyone does it all differently😁 think i will just chuck a cardigan on if it's colder and will introduce the vests in a few weeks as it gets colder

I've started adding vests back in again over the last few days because it's been getting chillier.

girlmom21 · 26/09/2022 07:22

I've just put a vest on my 1 year old for the first time in 6 months

Skyeheather · 26/09/2022 07:23

Mine wears a bodysuit all year round to keep the nappy up! In the summer I don't put a top over the top.

We're not at the best stage yet - still either a normal T-shirt plus cardy or long sleeved top if cooler. Today it's going to be 12/13 here so I'll do a long sleeved top, leggings, socks (she insisted on sandals yesterday but I think too cold today) and then a little thin hoodie top or rain coat for when outside

I think children have really variable preferences re temperature too from a very early age - my DC2 is 4 and has started wearing a vest again this past week or two, she's always disliked the cold and loved the heat, we never had any of the difficulties many babies/parents seem to have in hot weather like not sleeping or feeling uncomfortable in the sling or getting grumpy. DC1 is much more middling.

I agree layering on top is easier - where I am the temp change during the day feels quite pronounced at the min.

Same. My DC have all worn a bodysuit all year round till 2. So I am currently debating moving from the short sleeved bodysuit to long sleeved bodysuit for DD 13 months.
Older than 2 they wear vests in Autumn and Winter so holding off on that

FrizzledFrazzle · 26/09/2022 08:25

I'm doing long sleeved vest with leggings or dungarees and a jumper on top.

Rayna37 · 26/09/2022 12:46

Mine wore a vest pretty much all year round bar the very hottest days, sleeveless at hottest points through to long sleeve in mid winter, until probably the summer they were 4.

MsSquiz · 26/09/2022 12:55

My dd is almost 3 and she still wears a vest under her long sleeved tops/jumpers, as well as under a t shirt and hoody combination.

Dd2 who is 5 months doesn't always wear a vest under clothes, but she's often in a snuggly cardigan, snow suit or under a cosy blanket while asleep

PinkButtercups · 26/09/2022 13:03

My DS (3) still wears a vest under his clothes.
