Daughter came home today with AR level book 3.9. ( they have just started it today) I have zero idea what this means or if it's good or bad. She really enjoys reading so I'm keen to hear your thoughts

I have never heard of AR levels but a quick google search reveals that AR 3.9 indicates a reading age of 8 to 9 years.

The levels equal the American grades. So an average year 5 child would be around 4.

It's fine for their age. I expect ar to be one less than their primary school year. They should have a range if numbers so if 3.9 is at the top of their range, they'll need a bit of support but if it's at the bottom, they're doing really well. The tests are really variable and the scores can jump around a lot.
