Hi all
I am a ftm and have many concerns about my 18 montns old. I live in europe and contacting pediatrician , developmental pediatrician seems to be difficult. I have thoughts if my son is autistic.
I will anyway check with doctor but since the waiting
time is so long and i live alone without any elders help , i am posting it here to seek some insights about my son.
My son is happy , social kid..
Smiles, laughs a lot.
He is 18 months old and his physical developments are good.
Good eye contact.
Good name response.
My real concerns,
He is not good in speech. I have read some where the animal sounds are counted as words and he have some of animals sounds and apart from that some words which he use inconsistenly Like ba for ball, ca for caa, ish for fish etc. So totally he would have nearly 10 words.
He claps, waves ( but he didnt wave like before in past one month. How ever my husband happened to see him waving in day care last week. But if i try to him to make him wave he isnt ) and points ( pointing is always rare. But he has pointed duck, fish, pictures, birds and also for his needs asking cookies, bottle . I would say rare).
He has not really showed or handed me toys prompted or unprompted. However once he liked me singing ba ba black sheep with his sheep toy. So he would bring me the toy often to me for singing.
He does brings his chocolate to open. Toy box to open.
I dont know if he is following commands. He have his animals. If i ask him lion he will take and show the lion and roars. Similarly he does it for like 10 animals. He does action of fish swimminh if i
ask how does a fish go. He does the action for complete wheels on the bus song. If i ask him to beep , he will beep the button in his toy car.
But if i ask him to pickup a ball. He will even look for the ball and either points or smiles at the ball but will never pickup the ball.
last week he was doing a fish action seeing a bottle we just bought from a shop and i found a fish in that bottle.after some time when i asked him where is the fish bottle he pointed the fish bottle.
i am so concerned about his speech delay and waving thing. he does include us in his play (except us to clap when he stacked something correctly). feed us with play toy fries, once fed teddy with his bottle.
I know he has some positives and some negatives. No person to hear me or clarify me makes me anxious. Please advise.
