Send to school with cold or not?

DD (10) has a head cold: blocked nose, snotty sneezing, bleary/watering eyes and feeling blah/tired - but is quite chatty and eating fine. Kept her home yesterday and she perked up by afternoon and evening. She seems kind of ok sat here with me now, but that's because she's tucked up in blanket on couch - still sneezing and coughing - negative covid test - but I should think contagious with cold.

What are your criteria for judging whether or not DC goes in to school with cold?

Personally I’d dose her up with calpol and send her in. If you’re not at work today you could always let the school know that if she gets worse they can call you, or you could pop in with calpol at lunchtime.

If Covid test is fine and she’s not got any D&V symptoms or temperature she can go in. (I’m immunocompromised and massively grateful to those of you still testing - Thankyou).

But if she’s ill enough to be wrapped in a blanket and she wanted to be off then personally I’d keep her off unless there was something critical going on at school - as a duvet day will get her over it faster and make her more capable and happy on other days. They bounce back quickly if given enough rest.

I would dose her up & send her in! Quite often you feel worse in the morn & at night.
