So I have a 2 year old boy who is very hyperactive and wants to do something new every 5 mins lol now that summers are ending he’s not going to be going out much, any activities or toys you guys would suggest that would keep him busy and entertained at home?

Buy clothes so you can still go out - wellies, waterproof trousers/all in one suit. As long as they are warm they are happy.
failing that
you could practice going up and down stairs safely, go swimming, build a assault-activity course in you front room.
Play indoor camping - a table and a sheet over the table that reaches the floor.

Get them involved in cooking - make rice crispy cakes!

Make a softplay with all the sofa cushions

Playdough art - go out and hunt for leaves, conkers, sticks and come back and make faces etc with them with the playdough

Make a den and get some cheap LED flashing toys and fibre optic lamps etc and make a little disco! I used a reflective blanket from my first aid kit to make it all shiny and reflective

Have you got space for something like a little indoor trampoline?

But also as PP said - get some warm wet weather gear and go out anyway, they love it!

i have a very energetic 2 year old too, so I will be following for any tips!

we do try and go out every day whatever the weather - he’s a bit like a dog and needs exercising 😂 but it is a pain in winter then trying to find somewhere to hang all the wet coats, hats, gloves, etc… he is all the happier for it and then will play much more happily inside having had a good walk.

mine loves scooping at the moment so we often do messy play with oats and lots of tins, spoons, Tupperware boxes and anything else I can find in the kitchen for him to scoop and pour with. I set it up in the roasting tin on the kitchen floor, sweep it all up at the end and put it in Tupperware boxes to use again for messy play. A quick vac and it’s all cleaned up then! He will happily do that for ages.

dancing to some music

rolling Cars down a ramp (which can be anything long really. I used a wrapping paper tube).

actually, scrap all of that, all you need is a decent sized cardboard box! Hours of fun!

I had DVDs of fun dances to copy (YMCA, macerena, Superman... the old cheesy stuff.)

Probably on YouTube these days!

Make sure to 'go out' most days no matter what the weather! Go looking for puddles to splash in, now autumn is coming go looking for some leaves to make pictures with, go looking for sticks, parks, soft play, toddler groups and rotate toys and activities in the house, paint sticks and kinetic sand and play dough are firm favourites in our house on rotate

Also check for cheap/indoor activities - my local library does a brilliant singsong session, we then look at the books, before walking through the shopping centre and playing on the car rides (dont need to put money in them, they are happy enough to just sit and pretend!)

Following this thread!!!

Winners for us are kinetic sand, dancing to music, jumping on the bed (he likes songs with actions - 10 in the bed and he rolls off the bed 9 times 😂, sleeping bunnies and he gets his bunny Teddy and tells it to shush etc), chase - he could run round in circles through the three tiny downstairs rooms over and over.

Reading what I've written I'm a little disappointed with myself that we don't do all these things every day!
