Well it varies hugely...

My 8 year old = trampoline, gymnastics, ball games, hunting for mini beasts (favourite bday present was a bug hunting kit), kite, slime, roller skates, card games. Not at all interested in fashion, makeup, clothes etc

Her 7 (nearly 8) year old cousin = make up, hair stuff, clothes, puzzles, drawing, painting.

Both like cuddly toys and roller skates and making dens.

My 7 year old loves dolly's and prams etc. Any craft or colouring. Trampoline and swimming

At that DD got very interested in the Lego sets with motors and gears.

Minecraft and Pokemon. Both seem popular amongst her friends too.

My 8 yr old is into dancing, Lego, art, and spends hours role-playing with friends and siblings. She still likes toys from younger years if she's playing with younger siblings.

Lego, barbies, Sylvanians- she likes playing with these with younger sister (6); arts and crafts/drawing/painting (making her own fairy doors for her room- it’s like a fairy tower block in there now), cycling, trampolining, finding snails and minding them for a day or two before releasing them back again, reading, baking.
