Baby and worms

DD5 has worms, we've had a good innings and it had to happen eventually so I'll get the family treated but should I treat DD 6 months? I won't be able call the gp til Tuesday.

I'm breastfeeding if that helps at all?

Ovex is only suitable for over 2s and is says it isn’t suitable if you are breastfeeding but you can check the breastfeeding network for their advice.

I would. Check with out of hours GP / 111. When my baby had worms before she was old enough for Ovex 111 sent a prescription to the night pharmacy, I was on the phone to them with baby at home and DH was at the counter waiting, took only a few minutes.

It was the same treatment but because DH had said it was for a baby we needed the prescription, no other pharmacies open at the time so couldn't go to different one and lie Halo

Yes I know it's o ly for over 2s but I can't talk to the GP til Monday so I wondered if anyone has who's been in a similar situation would know.

And yes I've checked the breastfeeding network and it's fine to take Ovex. In fact the breastfeeding network says you can give it to under 2s but it's not licensed. But I'd rather talk to the GP first

I'm sorry, this was just the last shitty thing of a pretty shitty week. No need for me to be rude though.

Has the baby got evidence of worms?
They may not prescribe for them. You can buy treatment over the counter for the rest of you if you want to get started on it asap.

If baby not showing symptoms or not bothered then strict hygiene may be enough, you just need to break the cycle of infection. But if baby bothered then I would ring on Monday and they will likely prescribe. The nappies however are something else! Ds2 had then as a baby and was prescribed ovex, it gave him horrible stomach cramps (i assume judging by the crying and the way he acted) he then filled many nappies with huge quantities of dead worms in poo. It was quite incredible.

DD had it a few months ago and DS was only a couple of months old. I saw a pharmacist who told me not to treat DS unless he showed any signs but to make sure DD washed her hands if touching him. Only thing is she also said one dose is enough unless she's still showing signs - because I didn't give that second dose she had them again 6 weeks later so make sure you give both doses!

No evidence in baby and we've just started weaning so I've been taking a look at the poos a bit more than usual. We've all taken a tablet this on so hopefully that'll nip it in the bud for the rest of us but I think we'll treat in two weeks as well.

I called 111 and waiting for a call back so I'll see what they say.

If that's happens I'll get to Sporner's Corner 🤣
