My dd is 3 in December and lately when she needs to poo she always says her tummy hurts. I do not know if she just thinks the sensations of needing to poo is her tummy hurting....or if there is something else going on. She poops once or twice a day. Lately it is a little mushy. But she also just started nursery and eating lunch there daily.....so not sure if it is change of diet causing slightly mushy poo. Or could it be a bug? She is fine after she does her poo, eats normally etc.

Forgot to mention, I suffer from health anxiety, so I also worried for my kids and am a bit sensitive to anything health related.

Yes, my almost four year old says this. Sometimes she is a bit bunged up, sometimes she’s just very full, but it usually passed after she has been. I was really worried at first but it has been almost a year and no I’ll effects!

It will be the sensation of needing a poo she is talking about. Sometimes that windy feeling is a little sore. She just doesn't have the vocabulary to describe the feeling exactly.

Thanks for the feedback. I hope she outgrows this because it makes me anxious every time she says her tummy hurts! It is always when she has to do a poo. So I assume it is like pp said about the sensation of needing a poo.

Keep an eye for constipation too, could be that.
