When will this get better?

Hi,

My daughter is almost 11 weeks old and every time I pass her to anyone, even just for a couple of minutes, she hysterically cries. Then when she is passed back to me she’s in such a state I can only calm her down with a breastfeed. She also gets very upset at new places which is getting difficult to manage with my 2.5 year old as it means if we go anywhere or I pass my baby to anyone to do anything for my toddler, we all have to listen to hysteria. When will this get better?!

She's brand new and wants her mum. It just takes time, it's really hard work though. It will get better Flowers

Around 4-6 months IME. 4 months better for seeing new places and 6 months better for appreciating other people.

Do you have a stretchy type sling so she can face in and kind of cocoon away and not look at things? That can help babies who are easily overwhelmed and the pressure from being wrapped is quite soothing for them also.

Around 14-16 weeks with both of mine. Hang in there!

Thanks for this! I do have a sling but she just constantly roots at my chest when she’s in it and cries!

Sleep with a comforter for afew nights and when your out and about or someone is wanting a cuddle give them it so she can still smell you.
