Nursery closure but still have to pay

I don’t think I’ve seen a thread about this yet. My DD’s nursery is closing on 19/9 for the funeral but refusing to give us a refund because it is ‘exceptional circumstance’. Just wondering what other nurseries are doing?

The vast majority of employed people are being paid for it. So reasonable IMO

We have to pay still

SunshineClouds1 · 13/09/2022 15:23

Always the case on a bank hol for us though

Agreed

Is your job shutting down and if so are they deducting that day. Just wondering if this works both ways.

OrangeySunset · 13/09/2022 15:27

Closed and charging us. I'm self employed so won't get paid.

Pupsandpaws · 13/09/2022 15:29

Closed and refunding it on the next bill

Numbat2022 · 13/09/2022 15:30

We have to pay, same as other bank holidays.

stillinflipflops · 13/09/2022 15:49

We always had to pay for a term up front and if there was a bank holiday it was included in the price.
I just assumed you pay for the space and not the days you're dc is there.

mmmflakycrust81 · 13/09/2022 15:51

It surely depends on the contract?

Ours will not be refunding a day as bank holidays are inclusive as part of the charges and presumably staff still need to be paid.

Bootsandcat · 13/09/2022 15:56

Interesting it’s varied. We usually don’t pay for bank holidays so we were a bit surprised that we still have to pay. But totally appreciate that it’s such a last minute bank holiday and staff are already scheduled in and of course they should be paid.
