Fontanelle - what’s normal?

My little one (4 months) keeps getting what I consider to be a swollen fontanelle. On a normal day, it looks slightly indented, I can see the shape of the gap, and when he stresses or feeds then it pulsates. That’s my understanding of ‘normal’.

But more and more, it’s looking completely filled in so I can’t see the shape anymore, or even protrudes slightly from the shape of his skull. It’s not like when it pulsates - it lasts for hours or maybe a day or so, and feels a bit firmer when I touch it. The doctor (I’ve been twice about this) insists it's normal and not a concern because a) it’s not massively swollen and b) he seems healthy enough otherwise.

So, I’m just wondering if this sounds normal to you? Any input appreciated x

Sounds normal. It can deflate when they’re a bit dehydrated.

I think it's it's bulging it could be a Sign of meningitis but if you have showed it to a doctor and they said its normal then i'd trust that..

As pp said, if it's indented they're a bit dehydrated... I often feel for that especially on hot days.
