AIBU?

My DD (preteen) has recently just had her birthday, her dad (NRP) has took it upon himself when DD received birthday money to tell people who were gifting it that she'll be spending it on clothes for his house.

Spoken to DD she doesn't want to spend it on clothes & I have told her if it's an issue seeing as she is in school uniform during the week and has lots of clothes here she can take some to her dads.

Spoke to her dad about this a bit ago when we was sorting out clothes that she could to which he said "no it's fine she's got plenty here"

So AIBU to assume that if he wants her to have her own clothes at his house that he should pay for them and not expect DD to buy them out of her birthday money? If she was expecting designer gear then fair enough but she's not.

She should spend her birthday money on whatever she wants.

@Rakszasa that's what I said to her!

Not helpful I know - but I can see why you divorced him 😞

Yes, as a PP says, your DD should spend her money on what she wants.

What sort of father wouldn't buy clothes for his child?!
