18 MO tantrums - normal

I was waiting for the terrible 2s but it's the 18 month mark my daughter seems to have gone mad.

She screams at me constantly but is apparently fine at nursery and her grandparents and sometimes with my partner.

There's no rhyme or reason but she's especially bad when she's just woken up. She has 1 nap and eats decently. Still has milk before bed so ifs not hunger. She's better outside but I can't be outside with her all day.

I get the whole too young to explain her frustrations but this feels really wilful. Any time I try to stop her doing something dangerous she just screams no at me. She has a lot of words but it doesn't seem to help.

Any advice or ideas of how long this phase will last. Family say another 6 months..

No idea how long it lasts but my 17mo has just started doing exactly the same. If anything doesn't work exactly how he wants straight away it's a tantrum, if I stop him doing anything it's a tantrum. Going outside helps but like you said can't spend all the time out!! I just remind myself it's only a phase!!!

Thank you. Other mums say the same but I just find it so hard to stay calm when she's screaming at me saying mumma again and again when I'm literally holding / sitting and playing with her. Its not as if I'm distracted!
