Baby hates the car

FTM with a 13 week old baby, since around 9 weeks she has got herself worked up into a real state whenever we go in the car, she will usually be 'ok' on the way out but on the way home she cries and gets quite hysterical. We have two car seats, one is a normal carrier and the other is a spin seat, she is the same in both, the newborn inserts have been removed due to her outgrowing them, this initially appeared to help but only for a couple of days. I've tried sitting in the back with her, playing her hey bear videos, talking to her, singing, holding toys for her etc but once she starts there is no soothing her. It makes no difference if we are going 5 mins down the road or 30, it starts within a couple of mins of setting off. I feel like the worst mum ever!

My dd is the same. 7 months now and still cries (screams!) on most car journeys. Doesn’t matter if she’s just been fed, hasn’t been fed, is tired or just had a nap… toys make no difference, or music. Puts me off going anywhere tbh.
i have no advice, just solidarity 😂

My boy hated his car seat with a passion screaming bloody murder whenever traveling and he was unstable on oxygen (for almost three years) then at age eight months that stopped I have no idea why he woke up smiling and happy as a lark! Hang in there-my son is now 22

Mine didn't stop crying until he sat upright, ie out of the bucket seat type thing.

He had awful colic until 5 months, and I think being folded up in the car seat was awful. Nothing stopped him crying.

Thank you all. Hopefully she will grow out of it! Took her out in hubby's car and car seat this morning at nap time, however, she would not nap but did fall asleep when being carried around the shop (she's at the point where she hates laying down in her bassinet so won't go in it unless asleep!), but then woke up before we went home and cried again, luckily stepson pacified her with face strokes and hey bear dancing vegetables until she fell asleep as we pulled in the drive...
