Please tell me colic gets better

I could literally cry everyday. My nearly 8 week old will never settle in the day if he’s awake and he’s a nightmare to get to nap. Then the past 2 weeks he just screams for hours come the evening and tonight is the worst it’s been. I’ve had to leave him in his cot in the nursery to cry because I can feel so much anger coming on I could scream.

I’ve tried everything, fed him, nappy change, winded, has infocol and gripe water, was giving him colief drops and now changed to comfort milk on recommendation of hv but he wont stop screaming! And it really doesn’t help when my friend who’s baby is a week later than mine is an angel apparently 😫

please tell me it gets better as I seriously wish I could go back to a year ago when life was so easy ☹️

It really does, doesn’t feel like it now but it will all be a distant memory (nightmare) one day. My god-daughter had terrible colic, but grew up to be a really lovely, happy girl. You’re doing the right thing taking a break and leaving him safely in the nursery when it gets too much

@AmberM2022 he’s like a new baby! To the point I actually forgot how much of a nightmare he was it seems so long ago! He’s 16 weeks nearly and for the last 7/8 weeks he’s so much better. I changed the formula to aptamil and he started pooping better (used to go loads and was like water, now it’s once a day thank god) and he’s also on omeprazole too which I think really helps.

He only cried now if he’s tired/hungry/nappy change and that’s fine by me, whereas before he would just cry for no apparent reason 🥹

When people say it gets better and you don’t think it at the time it really does! He gets a bit ratty now but he’s teething so I can let him off I suppose 😅

@Lollypop0101 Thank you sooo much for replying! i am so pleased to hear you have a changed little baba! Gives me hope. Are you on the Aptamil comfort or normal?
I mentioned the Omeprazole to the docs yesterday who were having none of it and didn’t want to give me it! - Although said doctor said i had caused the colic by over feeding my baby (he was on 3/4oz and weighs 10lbs!!) ridiculous.
I might go back and ask to see someone else. Hopeful that it will get better for me then, because right now it feels like i’m in hell!

@AmberM2022 he’s on aptamil comfort and has been since so I’ll keep him on it now until I start to wean him! I’d try a different doctor - when I saw mine I bought him in with me and he just screamed the whole time so then she prescribed the omeprazole tablets and said if they don’t work in a few weeks all that’s left is to rule of cmpa. However after a week he was much better!

Hes on the liquid version of omeprazole now which they don’t like to prescribe as it’s £100 a bottle 😬 but it seems to do the trick! You don’t know unless you try so keep harassing them. It’s not them who have to cope with a screaming baby it’s you so I feel sometimes they don’t understand 🙄

@AmberM2022 oh I also did change to the dr browns bottles as they’re meant to help with colic but I changed the milk, bottles and gave him the tablets at the same time so not sure if they all help or just one 😂

Hi, you have my sympathies, colic is awful. I put 7 drops with some water on a teaspoon and syringed into them (just calpol syringe, you don't need to fill it). It does taste horrible, they won't like it but is worth it to help with the pains.
