Sleeping on her front

My 6 month has moved to her big cot now and since then all she does is roll onto her front and i am not sleeping as i keep checking her every hour or so as i am so worried about her sleeping face down into the mattress.

I have tried anti roller and she just rolls over it now and i have sleep montior on her. Please help i need my sleep back. Any tips or advice. Is this normal and is she fine to leave? or shall i be turning her back over every hour as when i do she just rolls back onto her front.

Thank you

Once they can roll themselves it’s fine

dementedpixie · 05/09/2022 22:02

I'd leave her to find her own sleep position now

I’ll probably be corrected by someone more knowledgeable but if I remember rightly once they could roll over themselves it wasn’t an issue. I have much sympathy for the paranoia though, you must be exhausted. Maybe get a motion sleep monitor mat if that would help? (Although my little ‘angels’ would roll right to the end of the cot and set it off that way 🙄

DD has been rolling onto her front since she was 14 weeks and has refused to sleep on her back since then. She's now almost 7 months and I've had to leave her to it. She hates sleeping on her back and is quite happy rolling and wiggling all around her cot.

Thank you all for your help. This is how she currently sleeps. Just leave her or shall i move her? I am so paranoid is anyone else the same?

It’s fine. She’ll find a more comfortable position soon.

Can she roll from her front to her back too?

Lullaby trust says:

Parents are often worried when their baby learns to roll, and finds a comfortable sleeping position on their side or front. Once a baby can move themselves from their back to their front and back again by themselves, they will be able to find their own sleeping position. The first few times they roll onto their tummy, you might like to gently turn them back, but do not feel you have to get up all night to check. Give them some time to play on their tummy while they are awake to help their development, but make sure you supervise them while they are on their front

Thank you, yes she can roll back and forth herself and starting to pull herself up now too.

I have the exact same thing with our 5 month old! He LOVES to sleep on his belly in his big cot. My husband is petrified but as they have said above, he can roll all over the show now, so I take comfort in knowing he will and can move himself if he needs too! But HV/NHS etc do scare the hell out of you!

You will find she prefers to front sleep once she can. It’s fine.
