Baby won't sleep in cot!!!

10 month old baby will only sleep on me or directly next to me! Every time I put her in her cot she wakes up instantly! Any ideas?

I have no idea what this post means. All babies and children need to be in car seats when in a car. What has that got to do with training them to sleep in a cot?

What's your routine for getting her to sleep? I used to sing or recite books from memory while holding DS, then continued that while putting him in the cot and stroking him. Sometimes he got hysterical and there was no choice but to pick him up, but eventually it got to the point I could consistently put him down and he'd be fine with just my hand until he was asleep, then he was fine if I was just sitting by his cot, and eventually got to the stage where I could leave him awake and he'd get himself off to sleep. Wasn't a quick process, but I wasn't comfortable co-sleeping.
