Does Nuby Rapid Cool need sterilised?

As above. Recently bought this and I see it says the lid is not suitable for a steam steriliser which we use.

Does this item really need to be sterilised given that it will only ever be close to boiling water going in to it? I was under the impression the hot water would kill any bacteria I'm the formula and flask.

Thanks in advance.

Is my Nuby Rapid Cool faulty?

Only purchased couple days ago, the instructions show lid will be Amber or Red as too hot and wait until Green to use but my lid always shows green, the flask however does cool the milk down (tested on wrist before feeding my baby)

Argh, mine is the same. Am I doing something wrong is it just not working. Green as soon as I put boiling water in.

I asked a friend to check hers as recently purchased around same time and hers also is green as soon as boiling water has been poured… the leaflet might be misleading in the way it’s worded

I think that is faulty, though. It should display red when it's too hot to drink and when it's on the flask to show it's hot enough to sterilise the powder and then start the cooling process. I am going to contact Nuby and see what they say. I will let you know if/when i get a response.

I am having this same problem, probably purchased round about the same time as others in this thread and it's green all the time. feeling disappointed a bit by it but it does seem to cool them down just doesn't "confirm" the way it's meant to.

So, I contacted Nuby (who were really friendly and helpful, actually). They asked me to send a picture of the lids and the batch number under the RapidCool along with a little video of me using it exactly as she described. Turns out, I was doing it right all along, and the lid was in fact displaying amber. I thought it was just a dull green, but that IS AMBER. Bright green is ready, dull green/yellow is amber. Now I can differentiate between the two it seems to work as I hoped. Here is the email she sent to me. I hope it helps:Thanks for getting in touch and we are sad to hear your unhappy with your RapidCool, as it is we know the preparation flask is a much-loved part of many parents feeding routine. We can reassure you that we remain completely confident in this product and apologies you have an issue with your digital lid. Please carry out the below test no need to add formula, (making sure the flask has fully reset).Add 180ml / 6oz boiling water from the kettle give a good sake then turn the cooler upside for 10 seconds that is so the water is making contact with the thermostat in order for the lid to change colour (amber), please manually time 4 minute and turn the cooler again upside for 10 second again this is so the water is making contact with the thermostat the lid should then appear green and the water ready to dispense. Please note when the digital lid is used with the RapidCool flask, the lid will not turn red as the water temperature is reduced below the red-light temperature threshold by the time the lid is re-attached and shook up etc. This is because as soon as the water hits the flask, it starts cooling. When attached to freshly boiled water in the insulated flask, the light should turn red if you have the kit (on the grey insulated flask only). If you are still having issues, please can you send me an image of the digital lid, proof of purchase, address, contact telephone number and the batch number which you will find on the base of the flask this starts with H?I will also require a short video showing boiling water being added to the flask, held upside and the lid not activating amber. Her reply following my email and video:Thanks for the video. How cute is your little one she’s beautiful. So when you are showing me the digital lids after you have tilted them upside down the colour is AMBER – not green! The Green is more of a dark green colour and the amber a more yellowish colour (yours definitely was amber which means that the formula is still too hot to give to your little one.So for an example if you are making a 6 oz feed this should take approx. 4 mins to cool then you will see the deeper darker green colour.😀

Since this post I’ve been using it every night and it has shown the Amber colour a few times but not on every use the milk still cools down how it should do so continued to use it x

I tested mine again today, and one of my lids didn't display red when I put the boiling water in the flask like it should, so I think I will still request a new lid. Baby hasn't even arrived yet, so I am not going to start off with a faulty one. I will test again, however.
