Gearing up for thinking about ttc second baby and full of meandering thoughts..

I hope its normal to be anxious about going for number two. In my case I worry about my age (37), will baby be ok, will I manage a VBAC, financially, childcare and so on and so on..

The biggest worry I have though is loving another child. My DS is the absolute apple of my eye and I just can't picture making room for another.

Is this common and does it evaporate when you meet dc2?

hi foxy
i am thinking the same things as you! mostly how will I cope with a baby as well as my very energetic toddler! when dd was tiny i slept and rested when she did! There's no chance of that with a 2nd! I also worry about finances (but i guess 2 dc aren't twice as expensive)
sorry I can't help advise!
will be watching this thread for some helpful answers for me too!!

ps good luck with ttc!

Foxy, do not fear. Remember how before you had ds you had not a clue a) what being a mother would really be like and b) how much you'd love him? Well, in the same way, you can't really imagine how you'll love dc2 as much, but you just do, kind of alongside your existing love for ds.

good luck.

it is so common to worry. you think you wont be able to love anothe r- but you do and with the same amount of love, you dont halve the love you have for your first.

as for money - it isnt the same exp as 2st time round - but do consider childcare for when/if you go bak to work.

enjoy TTC.

p.s. foxy, you are not old at all.

We are TTC our second at the moment and I feel the same way. As well as worrying about finances etc. I worry that I will have hyperemesis like I did last time and then how will I cope with my toddler. I have to say though my longing for another baby is helping me put those things in perspective. In terms of loving the second as much I just remind myself how much dh and I love our first and won't it be lovely to experience double that love. Best of luck.

Ah yes, morning sickness second time around.. which will probably coincide with toilet training ds - the joys

Good Luck ttc suiledonn!

My DD is only 6 months old and DH is keen to start trying for another one v soon. Not sure if it is madness? Took 18 months to concieve DD and I'm 38 so don't know whether to start sooner rather than later but what happens if then TTC No 2 takes no time at all or if we had twins?! I guess we would just count our blessings

foxymagoo · 24/01/2008 20:31

I have sneaking suspicion we're going to have twins! Its runs riot in my family and with my eggs nearly at freefall stage...

Jem - my friend has 19 months between ds 1 and 2. ttc ds 1 took two years so they thought they'd better start early for ds2...

She is now expecting dc 3 and will have 3 lo's under 2 years 9 months. I feel exhausted just thinking about it!

I'm thinking exactly the same thing....I'm 40 and DD is 10 months old. I know we should start soon, but I want DD to be an only child for a bit longer...

Again, DD took a year, but who knows about #2. Aren't you supposed to be more fertile for a while after a baby? I keep worrying I'm going to miss that window of oppportunity, and then if we have trouble I'll wish we'd just gone for it at 10 months. On the other hand, I can picture life with just DD (DH is less so).
