Am I the only one who hasn’t lost weight after c-section?

FTM and omg the last 3 months have been hard! Never thought it’d be so hard having a newborn baby.. Baby is 14 weeks and I feel like I haven’t done anything the last 3 months other than changing nappies, doing enormous amount of laundry, washing and sterilizing bottles, using the breast pump and the lack of sleep is killing me.. Baby has been waking up every 2 hours at night for the first 3 months it’s only the last week where he only wakes up twice at night.. I feel like a zombie!!

Looked at myself in the mirror today and thought WTH I look like I’m 4-5 months pregnant 🤦‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

when do people get time to lose weight? I must admit I haven’t been eating the healthiest food since having baby, it’s so easy just to put a pizza in the oven or order a take-away so it is my fault but seriously when do people get a chance to go to the gym? Am I the only one who hasn’t managed to loose my pregnancy belly? ☹️

Definitely not the only one, my last c section baby starts reception next week! 😂hope this makes you chuckle, but on a serious note I slimmed down inbetween kids when my eldest was about 5 once things got a lot easier. Always been amazed how some manage it after 6 months too

With my first i used to go to a gym class in the afternoon once my DP was home from work, even with breastfeeding as i could before i left and i was only gone an hour or so. I started that after my 8 week check up. I also got back into swimming once a week, again in the evening.

I made sure i walked everywhere i could pushing the pushchair to get my steps in, done from about 2 weeks old once DP went back to work.

Pick a couple of activities to start with and get them into your schedule, it does take a lot more planning with a baby, but its easier to do the younger they are and there is still a lot of day time sleep etc

I was huge after my first, despite bf'ing around the clock. In fact, I think it was the breastfeeding hunger pangs that made me put on weight. When I had my second I was wise to this - I made sure I was walking a couple of miles everyday, pushing the pram and tried not to overdo it on the cake. It worked!

Your thyroid can also go a bit wonky post birth, so it may be worth getting this checked.

I didn’t lose weight at first either, between the eating crap because you don’t have time, breastfeeding hunger pains and having to take in more calories to make milk in the first place I didn’t lose a lot. Plus you can’t exercise for a while after c section either.

my DD is 6 months now and I have lost the weight but largely because we’ve had some allergy concerns and I’ve been on a very restricted diet. But the hunger pains calm down, your milk supply settles and you heal so it gets easier to move around

During my first c section many years ago I lost the 2 stone in weight immediately within the week i was in hospital. 22 years later I'm due my next c section and I think it may take a while for the weight to come off this time. I've only put 1 and a half Stone on this time but a bit heavier to start with this time round but I'm not too fussed

I went to mum and baby fitness and Pilates classes 3 x a week after my 6 week check. I was also sorting my horse out every day with baby in tow plus walking the dog. I didn’t have time to eat so that helped me lose the weight quickly 😂.

I’m struggling to lose the weight post c section this time. 5.5months in and still look slightly pregnant I would say. It’s the overhand for me that upsets me. And then the bloating on top.

im trying to make a real effort to eat better now and get some exercise in etc. second baby so I knew I would struggle more this time but just know you are very much not alone!x

sometimes all that will cheer me up is that bar of chocolate 🤣

I'm 10 months post c section and it's only now the weight is coming off. For some people it's just super slow.

Passanotherjaffacake · 03/09/2022 08:04

I look huge this time (baby 12 weeks) and I was also pretty big with my first but lost weight in between. Turns out it is just hard for me to lose weight whilst breastfeeding - spoke to the doctor at my six week check and she said breastfeeding hormones can do that if you are unlucky.

agree with pp the worst thing is the overhang. Hope you avoid that OP!

Still haven’t lost it yet, I think I’m heavier that I was 8m pregnant- it’s been over a year since birth! I did lose a bit when I stopped breastfeeding.
