Tesco plus size boys trousers are the best we found so far for the exact same reason. Big bum and legs on my short son.
TU and George do them too but I haven’t tried them out this term.

Buy for an older age and turn up the legs?

My DS has always had Asda or M&S plus size trousers, which ever was in stock.

Mine has a ladies bum and it’s a yes from Tesco. Big no from Sainsburys.

Lol I tried this, sadly it meant that the crotch was very low slung lol

Next plus size. They’re not only for overweight kids, and are great for ones like yours!

coeliacmum · 31/08/2022 13:13

There used to be something called 'sturdy fit' by Trutex.

Suki51 · 31/08/2022 13:24

I tried M&S yesterday I have now ordered from Asda online, fingers crossed but I’m not holding out much hope, he really does have large thighs and this is the sticking problem, there are other guys out there with, what I call, this rugby player physique I just hope their Mums are on here lol

I alway bought M&S but you have to get in early and buy all you'll need for the year as they went out of stock very quickly

Veganuaryborn · 31/08/2022 13:27

I would recommend a proper school uniform shop in your area. They can advise on fit and stock different brands with different fit.

BeaLola · 31/08/2022 13:31

We always bought Plus size from M&S very early on as they sell out very quickly

When he got to year 5 we just bought Mens trousers from Asda in a short

AFingerofFudge · 31/08/2022 13:32

These ones from M&S. DS3 has a similar chunky type thigh and these fit a treat, they're still a skinny leg but have the plus waist

PMG Schoolwear do a sturdy fit pair in different colours up to big sizes but you need to figure out the size.

I have a build like a Rugby player nearly 10 year old 5ft 2 and he is just about to move into the 11/12 ones. An absolute godsend for me as I just move up each year into the next size and they fit him very well. They start at 10.99 for the younger ages

A lot of others literally do not get beyond his thighs and certainly not over his bum

It was awful.

We ended up buying much older age trousers and shortening them. Neither man has a weight problem now!!

Suki51 · 08/09/2022 15:02

I agree they are getting there, although I still found them too short in the rise (crutch to waist) and a 5/6 year old boy doesn’t do well with hooks and zips when he’s left it to the last moment to pee!

Poor lad…mine is 5 and def not overweight he is already wearing size 6/7 in most clothes. He just has a bigger bum than most and very heavy thighs, we e had some hysterical moments in changing rooms with trying on trousers that did somewhat fit but the length were just too much…..

Thanks for all the replies I can see there is a definite gap in the market … As he’s still young I have resorted to joggers again for this year … watch this space for September 2023

Yes I remember that starting reception having to zip and clasp!

Try the sturdy fit though complete revelation and should hopefully see us through Primary and beyond

ponygirlcurtis · 08/09/2022 16:08

Another vote for Next plus size here. We found M&S plus fitted on the waist but trouser legs were ridiculously baggy. I also think there's a gap in the market.

I will thanks👍
