3 month old diarrhoea

My 3 month old had a cold at the beginning of August and got diarrhoea during it, he's not had cold symptoms for over 2 weeks now but his poo is still runny and he can go up to 8 times a day. I've also noticed it's a bit slimy too.

We sent off a sample to the doctor but the day we collected it he happened to have slightly more solid poo, so I'm worried that if there is something wrong it won't be detected in the sample we sent.

He's formula fed and on gaviscon for reflux but has never had problems before his cold. Just wondering if anyone else's babies have experienced this after a cold and when they finally got better, or what else could be causing it if not the cold.

The Dr didn't seem to concerned as he's not dehydrated at all, but I'm starting to worry more with it going on for nearly a month now.

Could it be temporary lactose intolerance? Usually caused by illness like gastroenteritis and can cause diarrhoea for weeks.

Hi I know this is an old post but did you get an answer?? My nearly 5 month old has has diarrhoea for 3 weeks. Samples came back with no infection. Been to the doctors so many times. Been referred to the hospital but our appointment is 12 weeks away. I’m at my wits end. He’s absolutely fine in himself but just going to the loo straight away after every feed. Nothing happened that could have triggered it to start (no formula change etc)

@sunnrainbow my son just got better by himself after a while. Still not sure what it was. He's 1 now and has no issues whatsoever. Hope your little one will be better soon!
