Nearly 5 year old. Usually sunny and happy. He's asking for food all the time. Getting up at 5am. Split with his dad when he was 18 months. Dad is sporadic with contact. For example he hasn't stayed in his dad's for 2 weeks and stayed this weekend now He's crying and asking for his dad. 🙄. Once he goes to school we have set up a firmer contact schedule

Sounds like he's having a growth spurt and waking up hungry. Give him something boring like a banana or toast. Food and dad are likely two separate issues.

He slept until 7am today so hopefully the tiredness will abate. Dad is meant to be doing more in the coming weeks so we'll see

I'd say growth spurt too. My ds1 is starting school next week and is 5 in October and is saying he's hungry all of the time, obviously I'm feeding him! Also perhaps nervous for starting school?

We did a practice run to the school and he seemed happy but who knows! He's woken up with a snotty nose so maybe he's coming down with something.
