11 week old suddenly extra fussy

My 11 week old little one has suddenly started being extra fussy. Getting tired but fighting naps, moaning when I'm holding him trying to get him to sleep so getting very little sleep which obviously makes him over tired but it's literally impossible to get him to settle. Crying if I take his bottle away to try and burp in the middle of the feed which he has never done. It sounds like a moany cry and doesn't last long when I give his bottle back.

Chewing/sucking everything in sight but refusing his dummy

Have a really good routine for him and all was going well but it's like he's just uncomfortable anywhere and doesn't know what he wants.

He was a bit like this at around 6 weeks then week 7- now a lot better. I put that down to growth spurt but I'm not sure now and wondering if it's something else or just a phase...?

We have a few issues with possible silent reflux but this seems different...

Which it could be... could be a growth spurt or development leap ...? Week 6 almost broke me so I prey this doesn't last long if it is

I know all babies are different but... anyone else find this around the same time?

Also FTM so forgive me if this is just all part of being a baby. It's so hard to know

Hi @Nat88 I’m just wondering how you got on with your 11 week old? This things you mentioned sounded the same as my current 11 week old! Did you find out what was wrong or was it a phase that just passed? Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing!
My almost 11 week old is exactly like this, if I can get him to settle he's not usually asleep for long.
But yes he's so fussy and doesn't seem to know what he wants, he's never been like this.

It was luckily just a bit of a phase! Think it was development/"waking up to the world" Passed after about 2 weeks. Hopefully it's the same for you lovlies!

@Nat888 ah thank you! Reassuring to know it’s hopefully just a phase. He just seems a bit grumpy all the time the past week or two and I am exhausted!

Loumat · 10/12/2022 03:15

@jollybynamejollybynature exhausting isn’t it! Mines been like this a week or so now, doesn’t seem to remain happy for long but usually isn’t too grumpy

jollybynamejollybynature · 10/12/2022 23:05

@Loumat totally exhausting. The other half tries to help as much as he can but he drives to work and has a dangerous job so don't want to reply too much on him at night as he won't be any use to us if he has an accident.

We can usually get quite a few smiles most of the time but cries and is really fussy a lot, sometimes inconsolable.

I feel bad for him because you can see he's so tired too but fights it!!

Fingers crossed it passes soon

11 weeks would be early for a first tooth but not unheard of. If he's chewing on things could also be a sore throat. Have you tried a dose of calories op? If that settles him, something might be hurting and I'd ask the dr to check him over.
