@ExPatHereForAChat @WhatAFrog yep, she's fine with traces and small amounts in certain things, but then reacts to others. It's hard to know exactly where the line is, and she's not under care of a dietician yet

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas thanks, good to know!

@MDevane86 Thank you! She wasn't prem and the issues started when I was breastfeeding - she would react whenever I ate one of her allergens.

I started the 12 step ladder as I thought a more gradual introduction would be better. So for step 3 we tried scones/pancakes.

Will check out the group, and fx for your DS' success with stage 3!

@georgarina interestingly some NHS trusts follow the 12 step ladder and other follow the 6 step. Some trusts ask to spend around 2 weeks on each stage and others it's 6 weeks! We're following the 6 step one. I think there's no right way of doing the milk ladder if there is that much of a variation.

Also that Facebook group has mums sharing dairy free products which are fortified with calcium for little ones, recipe ideas and what mums are eating for those who are breastfeeding.

Good luck with the rest of the milk ladder and the egg one too when you start it!

MDevane86 · 24/08/2022 20:51

Today DS had:

B: croissant and malted milk biccy for milk ladder, toast with dairy free cream cheese, apple slices

S: organix crisps

L: rice cakes with avocado, pancakes made with cows wilk for milk ladder, pear

D: soft baked pork and veggie meatballs - egg and dairy free, pancakes - same ones from lunch, sweet potato fingers, strawberries, then more rice cakes as he was still peckish.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 24/08/2022 21:57

So today my 3 year actually ate
6.30 bf
7.30 - chocolate Oatley with her medicine in
B - tablespoon of pine nuts
S - massive plate of fruit and veg (4 portions)
L - costa, cheese and ham toasty, smoothie, 2 1/2 mini muffins
S - bf
D - rice, avocado, pine nuts
Supper - chocolate oatly with medicine in
Bed time - bf

@MDevane86 once you’ve completed a step is a good idea to regularly include those foods but if you are trying step 2 you don’t need to include a step 1 food that day but of course you can if you want.

bigbeautifulmonster · 24/08/2022 22:10

You are all amazing.

Today my DC (who is teething so almost no appetite) ate:

4 Cheerios
2 baked beans

Half a puff

A few small pieces of tomato.
A suck on the end of a piece of cucumber. Then spat out.

Some half-hearted mouthfuls of ravioli with sauce. Handled her sister's garlic bread.

Loads of breast milk!

EdithGrantham · 25/08/2022 13:08

@bigbeautifulmonster we definitely have days like that as well!

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas can I ask what medicine you're disguising in the chocolate oatly, my DD is on movicol atm and getting even half a dose in her is a nightmare!

Movicol. I make up the movicol, heat up the chocolate oatly and then mix them together in a sippy cup.

Movicol. I make up the movicol, heat up the chocolate oatly and then mix them together in a sippy cup.

Thanks, I'll try that, I've been resorting to syringing it in 2.5ml at a time but even that she sometimes spits out (with impressive range I have to say!) It's actually cosmocol we've been prescribed but I think they're much of a muchness

AudreyJL · 25/08/2022 13:45

@DandelionNumber12 No it wasn't :)

DandelionNumber12 · 25/08/2022 14:34

@AudreyJL impressive 🙂

DandelionNumber12 · 25/08/2022 14:40

Might as well add today's meals while I'm here

B mashed banana and wheaties I think they're called - they're like a mini shredded wheat thing? + toast

Snack - the rest of the banana, some blackberries. A satsuma from one of those free fruit for kids thingies in the supermarket

L Beetroot and lentil soup, bread, cheese and ham, cucumber, tomato

Snack - I haven't decided yet 🙂

D Beef and ale stew with dumplings, cabbage and carrots. A plum for pudding

I'm hoping he won't mind the splash of ale I put into his version, which I'm cooking alongside the big pot for me and DP. I'd forgotten how bitter it is - might have to sweeten with some passata perhaps. And make something with the remaining passata tomorrow.

Workawayxx · 25/08/2022 14:41

18m old dd has eaten:

milk on waking
B - toast with butter and a scrape of marmite, blueberries
L - filled pasta, chicken and courgette (only ate the chicken and a few nibbles of courgette!)
she will have a snack of a cracker and more blueberries after nap (waiting for a shopping delivery so not much fruit left!) then homemade chunky veg and bean soup for tea with bread and butter and maybe a piece of malt loaf or a bit of cheese for after. She will have milk before bed.

Trying to give her some home cooked food hence the soup, after a week camping where veg was a bit hit and miss!

S - cup of milk & banana

HedgerowRobin · 25/08/2022 15:58

I’ve been struggling with meal ideas recently and feel a bit stuck in a rut with my 10 month old DS (CMPA - currently attempting step 1 of the milk ladder for the first time) - it’s been great reading through this thread for ideas!

Today has been -

B - Ella’s kitchen strawberry and raspberry crispy cereal with vanilla oatly, blueberries
L - crumpet with flora and small amount of marmite, nectarine, pumpkin and banana melty buttons
D - (will be) chicken and chorizo jambalaya, broccoli, peach and pear baby rice pouch
Snacks have been 2 malted milk biscuits for the milk ladder.

Still on 4 breastfeeds a day too - morning, before both naps and bedtime

MDevane86 · 25/08/2022 16:16

For those of you with CMPA and egg allergy, i make these make meatballs a lot:

thrivingnest.com/baby/baby-led-weaning/beef-meatballs-for-baby-blw-toddler-no-egg/

I make a massive batch them freeze them. I've used different minced meats and veggies for different variations.

Flittingaboutagain · 25/08/2022 16:24

Great ideas here.

My 13m old has breastfeeds for snacks and then yesterday:

B: half a weetabix, half a banana and breast milk, a satsuma.

L: two oat cakes, grated raw carrot, courgette and avocado salad with lime juice, ricotta dip, three sliced cherries. Some salad went on the floor though!

D: Jamaican spiced chicken breast, long grain rice, kidney beans and baked mango again with some rice getting chucked.

We have a bad family history of diabetes so I am very strict on no added sugar or shop bought sauces. She was desperate to try houmous yesterday (which we had with dinner). I gave her a taste and she loved it so will attempt home making this to avoid the salt (and then bet it gets chucked!)

DandelionNumber12 · 25/08/2022 17:50

@Flittingaboutagain that all sounds amazing! Do you grate the courgette etc for the salad? Have never thought to bake a mango

Flittingaboutagain · 25/08/2022 19:05

Yes finely grated so it all sticks together for her to grab at. The idea of baking the mango was from a friend who said it's stickier to pick up too. Much easier for my baby who doesn't have the best dexterity yet. We enjoyed it too with the chicken.

Amichelle84 · 25/08/2022 20:02

Raisin toast with butter
Banana
Bagel with cream cheese
Crackers
Spaghetti bolognaise
Yogurt

georgarina · 26/08/2022 17:06

Loving all the inspiration!! So many good ideas. Definitely making the dairy and egg free meatballs

Today hasn't gone excellently -

B: semolina cereal with coconut yoghurt
banana, pear and blueberries

L: quinoa, salmon, cucumber (just ate the quinoa and left the rest so I gave her a banana)

D: pork sausages, baked potato with olive oil, sauteed green beans (didn't eat anything - lots of dramatic contortions in the high chair ending in Windshield Wiper Arm of Doom all over the floor)
