Doll's head came off! Help!!

Had no idea where to put this 😳 maybe someone has been through this situation.

Baby doll's head came off and I'm struggling to reattach it. Can't find any helpful videos on YouTube either.

Please help! As you know, it's kind of urgent business 🤷🏻‍♀️ last night I managed at bedtime but DD2 is really sad about this.

Thanks!!

Use some oil? If all else fails put the head opening in boiling water to relax the plastic before trying again.

You need to get the head to stretch over the plastic and then grip the grove

If you have thin spoons handles or any thin non-sharp metal.
Place it on the chest or back so it extends passed of the neck.
Slip the head over the handle and from one side of the handle start to stretch the head back down.
Keep the handle in place untill you get the head back on.

If that did not work use 2 handles
1 remains at a fixed spot and the 2 is used to circle the neck stretching the head back into place

Same principles as shown when fixing a bike puncture fast forward to 3min in

Warm the head so it's more flexible; hot water would be ideal apart from you don't want to trap moisture inside when you get the head back on. Maybe steam it over the kettle with some tongs?

Hairdryer up the inside of the head until it's warm then push hard.

Thank you so much for the suggestions 😊

I'll give an update later on

With some brute force I managed to grab the face and pull it and shove the neck the in. Yeay!!! 🥳

Having better tools would have been easier.... but managed to bend some wire and shove it stuff about with a spoon

I didn't expect seeing that over my morning coffee!

Definitely heat and / or oil, try to shoehorn the head over the neck stump

I mightily disappointed that nobody has yet asked HOW the head came off though, come on MN, get with it!

grey12 · 23/08/2022 11:22

I reckon it was stepped on 🤷🏻‍♀️ she loves stepping on everything 😠

Very glad to hear she is fixed @grey12 .

Besides the point but I love the diversity of those dolls! Where did you get them from? What are they called x

They are JC toys Lots to Love.

I like their face and that they're hard bodied so they can go in the bath/garden. After buying a white baby for DD1 I didn't want to buy the exactly same one for DD2 so I gave her the choice and she picked the black baby. For DD3 the latino baby wasn't available anymore at Smyths so I ordered online from the US. I think there is an asian one as well.

I found a shop online for diversity toys in the US but the UK needs one as well

Thank you! We’re a black family so have loads of black dolls but I’ve never come across latino and asian ones so that’s really good.

Not to sound patronising but it’s really good you have such a wide range of diversity in dolls within your house. It’s teaching your children that everyone can be seem as equal. A lot more parents should make the conscious effort to do the same!

Have a great day

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 24/08/2022 08:35

Amazed you can still get bog standard hard dolls!!Been a while since I bought any but they all seemed to 'do' something when dd's were small. Not just a doll to dress and play with! Poo /wee /cry /laugh /look too blinking real!!
Proper dolls are what makes playtime!
