DS is 20 months and while it wouldn’t be accurate to say he never points, it isn’t frequent and never has been.
I am fairly confident he doesn’t have autism. He makes eye contact, talks, laughs, babbles (endlessly!) But if you ask him to point to something in a book, he doesn’t. He also doesn’t point to distinguish something - earlier today we were in Boots and he has an ‘uh uh’ noise he makes when he wants something. He could see some snacks and I said ‘which one? Point to the one you want’ but he didn’t. Yet yesterday he was pointing and saying ‘uh uh’ to a drink.
He is very alert and inquisitive, he knows songs and actions, his language is developing well and his understanding is good. It’s just this area that’s a minor concern.
